Science

Every child has a natural curiosity about the way the world works. Through practical experiences, pupils have the opportunity to investigate and develop their knowledge of the world around them.

The scientific process and problem-solving activities will be used to deepen your child’s knowledge of the concepts involved. We aim to develop pupils’ enjoyment and interest in science and to develop an appreciation of its contribution to all aspects of everyday life. Through science, pupils understand how major scientific ideas contribute to technological change and impact on the quality of our lives.

At All Saints’ we teach science as mini-topics, usually at the beginning of a half term. We aim to use the outdoors wherever possible. We wish to build on pupils’ curiosity and sense of awe of the natural world. At the same time, the children will be able to plan fair tests, make predictions, record using ICT skills and draw conclusions from their learning. Pupils are encouraged to develop their scientific vocabulary and critical thinking.
