Tricky words in Year 1 !
In our daily phonics we are getting so good at spotting our tricky words that we can’t sound out - we just need to know them ! We are no longer letting them trick us - well done everyone with super reading !
Food from the Arctic
We researched different food that are eaten by the people that live in the arctic region. Next, we used cutting, chopping, grating skills and prepared Norwegian fish and salad sandwiches.
Animation history
We studied and created different animations from a long time ago, If was a lot of fun making flip-books and thaumatropes.
Investigating what makes objects move
In science we investigated what made objects move. We used problem solving skills and the equipment provided to make the objects move without touching them.
M6 theatre – Linking visit
We met our friends from the link school at the M6 theatre. We had a fantastic time watching a theatre performance and taking part in the drama workshops.
Measuring temperature
On a cold winters day, we investigated temperature and how it can be measured using thermometers. We measured the temperature of the corridor, our partners forehead and went outside and measured the temperature of a puddle on the playground which was 1 degree Celsius!
