Foundation Stage Curriculum
At All Saints’ Primary School we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and ensure that we have a well-planned curriculum, which also allows children to follow their own interests. Please see below for the Nursery and Reception long term plans.
Our pedagogical approach is based on a balanced approach of play-based learning and quality adult interactions, in order to meet the needs of our children.
In Nursery Class there is more play-based learning with high quality adult interactions. We provide quality continuous provision based on the needs of our children. Enhancements will be added throughout the year as appropriate and these will be modelled with the children. This then provides a seamless transition into Reception Class.
In Reception Class we balance a play-based approach with quality adult focussed activities/interactions. We provide quality continuous provision based on the needs of our children and provide enhancements and challenges in the different areas of learning in order to develop skills, vocabulary and knowledge. We do a ‘challenge time’ four times/week in order to develop skills in each area of continuous provision. This ensures that every child accesses most areas over a 2 week period and that they learn how to play/develop skills in those areas.
Subject Progression
At All Saints’ Primary School, we ensure that the EYFS really does create the foundations for learning for Key Stage 1 and beyond. We ensure that every subject co-ordinator understands how their subject is taught throughout the foundation stage and how that links to KS1. Please see the documents below for more information.
