Year 1 enjoyed their National Numeracy Day.

We started off with a Big Number Natter in class.

One Word Maths, the children came up with a wide variety of vocabulary including feelings they associated with Maths:
times tables, adding, taking away, counting, multiplication, numbers, patterns , counting in 2s, addition, subtraction, fractions, confident, joy, extremely happy, easy, love and happiness!

Next we talked about numbers all around us, where do we see numbers, the children thought of: newspapers, remote controls, clocks, doors, clothes tags, shoes, toys, phones, ipads, tablets, books ,homework, radiators, heating, fridges, ovens and microwaves.

We then helped Rusty the Robot to solve a set of challenges and designed him a playground.
Finally we danced our way to number confidence with Katya Jones the Strictly dancer!

What a number fun filled day we had in Year 1!
